Oklahoma is a state full of history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes. Its impressive size is a standout feature. Covering 69,903 square miles, Oklahoma ranks as the 20th largest state in the United States. This vastness leads to many opportunities for exploration, adventure, and relaxation amidst some of the most stunning scenery in the country.

The Geography of Oklahoma


Oklahoma's geography is as diverse as its size. The state hosts a range of landscapes, from the rolling plains in the west to the rugged hills of the east. The Great Plains, which cover a significant portion of the western area, showcase wide-open spaces and expansive agricultural lands. For instance, over 80% of Oklahoma’s land is used for farming, particularly in regions known for wheat and cattle.


In contrast, the eastern part of the state is home to lush forests and beautiful lakes, shaped by the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains. With more than 1,000 lakes, Oklahoma offers rich environments for fishing, swimming, and enjoying nature, making it a top spot for outdoors enthusiasts.
